Eighteen
What does it mean to be 18? Is it a time for freedom? A time for challenges? A time of opportunity? Thatʼs what BMF asked 18 very different people as part of this campaign for the Commonwealth Bank. Speaking directly to young Australians about to turn 18 themselves, the work passes on stories and wisdom relating to this milestone age, and the ways in which the Commonwealth Bank can support these customers as they transition into the scary and exciting world of adulthood.
Enlisted to shoot the piece was 18-year-old Australian photographer Nirrimi Hakanson. Although only 18 herself, Nirrimi has been involved in photography for five years and already has an enviable professional portfolio, including Dieselʼs winter campaign, which she shot in New York in 2010.
According to Tim Wood, Associate Creative Director, BMF, “The best way to capture our subjects and tell our story was to use a photographer who could truly empathise with the idea, and pass on some of her own insights”.
