Local Heroes
As the major sponsor of the Australian of the Year Awards for 30 years, the Commonwealth Bank has helped celebrate the achievements of some truly inspirational Australians.
This year the bank wanted to make more of their sponsorship, to actively help other inspirational Australians who are making a positive difference in their local community. Working with BMF, the Launching Local Heroes initiative was created.
Eight of these inspirational Australians, all nominated for the Local Hero of the Year Award, were chosen to work with eight executives from Commonwealth Bank - the Launching Local Heroes panel. Utilising all of their expertise, contacts and support, the panel provide ongoing help and mentoring to the Local Heroes.
To drive awareness of the intiative, each Local Hero and their cause featured on in-branch posters throughout their state or territory, in video interviews on the Commonwealth Bank website and Youtube, and on Facebook - with regular updates on their progress.
